Greg Innes

Statement

Gregory Innes is an oil painter that paints landscapes, animals and people. His realistic and surreal forests, streets, deserts and oceans are sometimes based on specific places but often are just imaginative panoramas. The local birds and animals are usual subjects in his paintings. Greg often uses angles and Dynamic Symmetry to add interest to his compositions. He strives for meticulous detain in faces, which are often juxaposed to the more painterly surrounding landscapes. Greg is influenced by painters such as Lauren Harris, AY Jackson, Maynard Dixon and the diverse fantasy lands of S Dali, Gustav Klimt and Peter Droog. Greg's creative approach centers around envisioning a scene and painting it after a composition is imagined or a sketch is made en plein air.
