Statement
Artist statement:
Interested art viewers ask a lot of questions about my work. I have a challenge to answer them because so much of my work is intuitive and although I can be quite verbal, verbalizing about me is foreign to my way of working.
I am an impressionist/realist painter who can be inspired by mood, light, and line in whatever I am looking at. Any subject is fair game, and I particularly enjoy portrait work. My interpretation of what I see is influenced by what my eyes can pick up, and then how I transfer that to my canvas through information I have gathered and integrated over the last 40 years. I have very little formal training.
